A SITMA researcher leads the winner team in the “Sailboat” category of the latest World Robotic Sailing Championship held in Portugal

The A-TIRMA team from the ULPGC´s SIANI University Institute has won this ninth world championship, held between 5 and 10 September in the Portuguese city of Viana do Castelo. The team is led by ULPGC lecturer Jorge Cabrera Gámez, who also heads SITMA´s Robotics & Sensors Unit.

This victory is the best possible recognition for the intense work carried out over the last few years by this group of researchers at the University in designing new prototypes for autonomous surface vehicles (ASV), a type of marine technology to which SITMA aims to make a decisive contribution.
