RES-COAST

The Project “RESCOAST: Infrastructure Planning and Risk Management Tools for the Development of Climate-Change-Resilient Coastal Economies in western Africa”, is an initiative co-funded at 85% by the ERDF fund within axis 3 (“to promote the adaptation to Climate Change and risk prevention and management”) of the Interreg Programme MAC 2014 – 2020.

Coordinated by the Technological Institute of the Canary Islands (ITC) and involving 8 different partners, it aims at anticipating and responding to Climate Change effects in coastal and fishing communities of the Canary Islands, Mauritania and Senegal (the two latter participating as Third Countries).

Expected results include the development of a tool for territorial forecast and planning, and the setting up and management of water and power supply systems, easily scalable, in order to be replicated in other coastal population settlements of western Africa and the Canary Islands, as well as in other places of the World with similar conditions.

SITMA is collaborating in this project by designing and manufacturing a small profiler equipped with a camera for the description of the vertical biomass migration and the evaluation of CO2 transportation in the deep ocean.
